Chapter Officers

President        Bettsie Stapleton Norton
Bettsie is a native Baton Rougean, pledging LSU's Gamma Zeta chapter in 1999 and graduating with a degree in Political Science in 2003. After attending graduate school at Georgia Tech, she currently works for Louisiana's Department of Economic Development where she actively recruits new companies to the State. She is married to Josh Norton, is the mother to a German Shepherd (Scout) and a Golden Retriever (Dolly), and is also involved in the Junior League of Baton Rouge, St. James Episcopal Church and CASA. Previously she was Public Relations Chairman and serves on Gamma Zeta House Corporation Board.

Vice-President        Marilyn Montgomery Lambert
Originally from Port Gibson, MS, Marilyn pledged the Delta Lambda chapter of Delta Gamma at Mississippi State University in 1979 where she graduated with a B.S. in Education. While an active, she served as VP Recruitment and VP Chapter Relations. She is also a graduate of Louisiana State University's Paul M. Hebert Law Center and is married to Eddie J. Lambert. Marilyn has three children, one of whom is a current member of the Gamma Zeta chapter at LSU. Marilyn works as an Ascension Parish Court Judge, is a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Rotary Club of East Ascension. She enjoys reading and traveling.

Secretary        Christy Boustany Mims
Christy is originally from Lafayette, LA and pledged Gamma Zeta in the fall of 2005. While a member of the Gamma Zeta chapter, she served as Director of Special Events in 2006 and President in 2007. She graduated in May of 2008 with a B.S. in Business Management and a concentration in Human Resources. Christy is married to Andrew Mims, enjoys shopping and traveling, and loves DG. Currently, Christy works at the Department of Natural Resources as a Human Resources Analyst.

Treasurer        Laura McPherson Simpson was initiated in 1975 at Gamma Zeta chapter. She served the chapter as VP Recruitment. She is married to Floyd Simpson. She has 3 boys all grown, 1 married. She also has 2 grandchildren, Cooper (2 1/2) and Sarah Grace (13 mos) who keep her busy when she is not working or travelling. She is the owner and President of Dugas Pest Control. She also serves as treasurer of the La Pest Management Assoc. She is currently serving as treasurer of the Board of Directors of the National Pest Management Association (an international association with over 8,000 members) and will become President of that organization in 2012.

Public Relations Chairman        Jolene Reilly pledged Rho Chapter in 1998. She graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in May, 2000. Since then, she's lived in seven states along the east coast. Jolene moved to Louisiana in January 2010, where she is Assistant News Director at CBS affiliate WAFB-TV. She enjoys traveling (especially to her family's lake house in Upstate New York), reading and checking out new restaurants. Jolene lives in Baton Rouge with her boyfriend Ryan, dog Roscoe, and cat Jayce.

Foundation Chairman        Nancy Aldrich Byrd
Originally from New Orleans, she was initiated into Gamma Zeta at LSU in 1974. She received a B.S. in education from LSU and a B.S. in Nursing from the University of Tennessee. While at LSU, Nancy was philanthropy and recording secretary. She is married to James Byrd, a former Anchorman. They have three daughters: Amanda, who was initiated into Gamma Zeta in 1996, Sara and Alexandra. They have five grandchildren. In her spare time, Nancy is active with Habitat for Humanity and St. Louis King of France Church.

Nominating Chairman        Melanie Vicknair Johnson
Also a Baton Rouge native, Melanie was initiated at LSU's Gamma Zeta chapter in 1974 and received her degree in Medical Technology in 1978. As a Gamma Zeta, she served as VP Recruitment and President in 1976. For the last 8 years, she has been the owner of JSM Anesthesia Services. Married to Neal Johnson, they are the proud parents of two girls - Megan who is also a Gamma Zeta in her junior year at LSU and Rachel who is a senior at St. Michael and will be going through Rush this fall at LSU. In addition, she has been involved with National Charity League-River Road Chapter for 8 years serving as Treasurer and President and currently the Treasurer for the Baton Rouge Eye Bank Auxillary. For the last two years she has served as Chair of the DG Mothers' Club.

Panhellenic Delegate        Betty Metz DeMars
After pledging LSU's Gamma Zeta in 1973-74, Betty served as Corresponding Secretary, and transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi, where she served as Vice President /Activities and developed and initiated the First Anchor Splash on campus. She is married to Tom DeMars and is the mother of three children. She has been an active participant in the Baton Rouge Alumni chapter, serving as Panhellenic Delegate and Anchora/PR Advisor. She is active in the Medical Society Alliance, Cancer Services Board, Speech and Hearing Foundation as well as Playmakers and Girl Scouts. She volunteers for several parent organizations and the Our Lady of Mercy Youth Group leadership committee.
